Camara Ireland Gives Dublin Schools a Chance to Win Heavily Subsidised Education Packages
January 12, 2012

Charity, Camara Ireland in conjunction with the State Street Foundation are giving 3 primary or secondary schools the opportunity to win technology enabled education packages for only €500. 65 schools from Dublin City will be given a chance to apply for this support. Of these, 20 will be examined within strict parameters in order to choose three successful educational institutions. The education will be through second-life computers that have been sourced from Irish businesses and individuals. Camara Ireland will provide the hardware, software and a teacher training package tailored to individual school needs. This gives teachers access to good specification computers and relevant software, enabling them to use ICT as a teaching tool to meet the objectives of the school curriculum. Successful applicants will receive 20 laptops or desktops. The computers will come loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Camara Ireland will set up and train eight teachers in the powerful Google Applications for Education suite of online communication and collaboration tools. Due to heavy subsidising from the State Street Foundation, the cost of this package will be reduced to just €500. The remaining top 20 schools who were not successful will be offered a 20% discount on the normal price of a package.

Students from Colaiste Mhuire in Shankhill find the key to not being board with technology in school.
