ACORN brings together a number of established applied research groups in the Limerick Institute of Technology to specifically address industry needs relating to sustainability, IT, energy and environment management and renewables. Expertise from the Centre for Industrial Control Networks (CICN), the Applied Computing Group and Limerick's Centre for Environmental Analytical Research (CLEAR) have been deployed to identify and implement strategies to reduce the energy usage from fossil fuels in industry, to reduce the level of CO2 emissions per production unit and to increase the deployment of renewable energy technologies.
