The Department of Computing in IT Tallaght has developed advanced competencies in development for mobile devices, scalability and loading of software and network systems, social media analysis, semantic web, elearning, simulation and visualisation.

The department has attracted research funding of over €300000 in the past three years and has a successful track record of delivery of applied research. Notable recent industry partners include IBM and MobileAware.

The department has over 40 students on Masters programmes including 8 full-time research postgraduates. The department disseminates the fruits of its research efforts through publication and seminars. Full and part-time students on the department's taught MSc Programmes (MSc Distributed & Mobile COmputing, MSc Information Technology Management) also have access to this cutting edge knowledge.
