GameCORE
GameCORE is a national centre for excellence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). GameCORE has researchers affiliated with both the Department of Electronic, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Computing and Networking in IT Carlow.
GameCORE has successfully attracted both national and international funding from public and private investment. Funding has been awarded by the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET), Higher Education Authority, Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers and EU Tempus programme. The GameCORE researchers have collaborated with researchers in other Irish institutions such as DCU, UCD, UL, UCC, Trinity College Dublin, NUI Maynooth and DIT and international institutions in the UK, France, Norway, Singapore and Kosovo. Researchers have also developed links with key industrial players involved in the development of online games.

Goals
The key goals of GameCORE are to:
- Perform industrially relevant, innovative and timely research into software development and networking architectures for Interactive applications as typified by Games.
- Provide a world-class, stimulating, flexible research and related teaching environment
- Establish and build on collaborations with leading industrial and academic research groups within Ireland and further afield
