TSSG
Based at Waterford Institute of Technology's West Campus at Carriganore, The TSSG's focus is on Future Internet infrastructure and the services deployed over it, particularly on the management of their complex inter-related network elements and software systems. This requires expertise in Internet technologies, telecommunications engineering, software engineering, and security. The TSSG has built this expertise through a steady expansion of its project portfolio and research capabilities over the past thirteen years.
The TSSG is one of largest integrated Information Communications Technologies (ICT) research and innovation centres in Ireland, and is also recognised as one of the top 10 European institutes driving the specification of 'Future Internet' research. Now a large organisation, The TSSG comprises 140 researchers and students, who are among the leading telecommunications and software engineering experts in the country engaged in cutting edge projects that see them partner with other academic and global telecommunications companies.
Key awards include: an SFI Strategic Research Cluster in communications management (FAME); an Enterprise Ireland Industry Led Research Programme on IMS (IMSArcs); HEA PRTLI project on the Future Internet (FutureComm); as well as key the European Framework Programme Future Internet programmes.
