Wireless Access Research Centre
The Wireless Access Research Centre at the University of Limerick strives to be a world class research centre for Radio Resource Management in wireless networks. This is achieved through novel and original research in Radio Resource Management issues in 3G and advanced wireless networks, both internally and cooperatively with other academic and industrial research groups. The results of the work are promoted through industrial co-operation, publication, seminars and the Wireless Group Web Site.
The Wireless Access Research Centre is divided into three intertwined working groups
Pursuit of group objectives is co-ordinated by ECE Department Faculty members
- Dr. Sean McGrath
- Dr. Martin Hayes
- Dr. Colin Flanagan
- Dr. John Nelson
and is conducted by this group of full time and part time Researchers.
These three work groups are tightly interlinked to provide a strong focus for the research group.
The Transmission Technology work group looks at channel models, channel coding etc., while the Access Mobility work group is concerned with terminal and session mobility. The Systems and Services work group currently focus on the development of testbeds to trial new algorithms developed by the other two groups. The work group has developed a number of testbeds and further details can be found in the Testbed section. The Dynamic Control group focuses on how new advances in systems science can be applied to realworld problems. An 802.15.4 testbed has been developed in order that repeatable experiments may be conducted to test our algorithms. More details can be found here.
